When it comes to having business, we should always display honesty and integrity. Everything we do should always reflect God’s teachings and character. Having a business or working in a business is an opportunity provided to you by God, and it should not be taken lightly. Even if your role in the operation seems miniscule, you should always work as diligently as those above you, not to please man, but to please God.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” – Colossians 3:23
“A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.” – Proverbs 13:4
For those who own a business, or play a crucial role in one, you should always pray for wisdom. No matter how big or small the decision seems, we should always seek the Holy Spirit’s advice in all things. We cannot see all that goes on behind the scenes or what the consequences of each decision will be, but God can. So, if you seek His answer first, you can only expect the best outcome!
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” – Proverbs 2:6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
“How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!” -Proverbs 16:16
A business owner is called to be generous and to be a public servant. You should strive to build a safe and fruitful work environment. You should always pay fair wages and speak to those, whether above or below you, with the utmost respect. If you have the means to do so, help those around you in need or even donate to charities. Spread the love of Jesus Christ in all that you do! You should never belittle or degrade those in positions below you. You must remember that you’ve only come this far because of God and not by your own hands!
