7 MOUNTAINS OF INFLUENCE: GOVERNMENT

When it comes to our government, we should always seek the Lord’s input in who to vote for or who we seek to have in office. Regardless of our votes, the rise and fall of the elect is all within God’s control. The Lord has complete and full authority of those elected in office. So as citizens of this nation we should never be afraid of those who are elected in our government, we should have comfort in knowing that God has full authority and control of the rise and fall of our leaders.

“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:” – Daniel 2:21

“But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” – Psalm 75:7

“For the kingdom is the Lord’s: and he is the governor among the nations.” – Psalm 22:28

“This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” – Daniel 4:17

Though God has full control over the rise and fall of leaders, we should always consult the Lord when it comes to who we vote for. A candidate saying they believe in God is not enough. We should always consult the Holy Spirit regardless! We see the outward appearance of man, but God sees the heart. This is why he should be the first one we consult on all decisions and choices. We want men and women in our government that consult the Holy Spirit in all circumstances! They must be individuals seeking the benefit of our country and not focused on money or other worldly desires. These candidates must uphold the law and prioritize integrity.

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” – 1 Timothy 2:2

“Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.” – Isaiah 1:17

“Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.” – Psalm 82

In the end, we must always remember to pray for those in our governmental system, regardless of what side of the isle they are from. Prayer has power! Those we believe cannot be changed, can be changed through prayer. Not because of us, but because of God! Prayer can and will change situations. So do not forget to pray for our leaders regardless of the circumstances.

“And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.” – Jeremiah 29:7

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” – Psalm 122:6
